W GROUP is live group location sharing on a map. Create a group, send one link, and everyone appears as coloured dots that move in real time: on a motorcycle ride, a hike, a bicycle tour, a ski day, any outing where you want to know where the others are. Not everyone has to be out there with you: your family can follow the trip from home, the organiser of a tour can keep an eye on several groups at once, and a support car can see where its riders are, all without sharing a position of their own. If something goes wrong, one SOS button puts your name and your position in front of everyone in the group, and those who want to talk can open a voice room together. No account, nothing to sign up for, free. It runs in any modern browser and can be installed as an app.
Your group can talk out loud while you ride. W GROUP does not carry the voice itself: whoever creates the group pastes in the link of a free Discord room, and everyone in the group then gets a Voice button that opens it. Watchers get it as well: a group you follow shows a small microphone on its row in Watch if that group has a room, so family at home can listen in without sharing a position. We chose Discord because in our own tests it sounded better than the dedicated intercom apps and came back much faster after a tunnel.
A member in trouble taps the red SOS button (on the map or in the panel). Everyone in the group, members and watchers alike, sees a red banner with their name; tapping it flies the map to their position, which keeps updating if they move. Their dot pulses red. Anyone in the group can cancel the SOS once things are fine. A 1-tap SOS option in the panel skips the confirmation question.
Watch mode is made for everyone who follows the outing without being on it: family at home, the organizer of a motorcycle tour keeping an eye on several groups, the support car of a cycling event, friends joining later. With + Follow group you can watch several groups at the same time (paste each group's link or code). Tap a group row to switch which one the map shows. If a watched group has a voice room, its row also carries a microphone button. You can be a member of one group and watch others.
W GROUP needs internet to exchange positions. If the connection drops, a "reconnecting" banner appears and the dots grey out at their last known position, so nobody mistakes stale data for fresh. It reconnects and resumes by itself. While you are a member, the screen stays on.
W GROUP is part of the WeatherGPX family. The same groups also work inside the full WeatherGPX app (Extra apps → Group), which adds GPX routes, weather along your track, navigation and more. Riders can be in WeatherGPX while family watches in W GROUP: same group, same link.
Do I need an account?
No. No account, no registration, no phone number. Pick a name and a colour, that's it.
How long does a group live?
24 hours from creation, then it expires and its data is gone. For a new day, create a new group; it takes two taps.
How many people can join?
Up to 12 members sharing their position. Watchers don't count: any number of people can watch.
What about my privacy?
Only your latest position, name, colour and initial are kept, solely to show your dot to your group, and deleted when you leave or when the group expires. No history, no tracking, no analytics.
Does it work on iPhone?
Yes. It's a web app, so it runs in Safari and installs from the Share menu.
Does it drain the battery?
As a member, GPS runs and the screen stays on, comparable to any navigation app. Watching only is much lighter.
What does it cost?

En cas de problème, un bouton SOS place votre nom et votre position sous les yeux de tout le groupe, et ceux qui veulent se parler ouvrent ensemble un salon vocal. Sans compte, sans inscription, gratuit. Fonctionne dans tout navigateur moderne et s'installe comme une app.
Votre groupe peut se parler à voix haute en roulant. W GROUP ne transporte pas la voix lui-même : celui qui crée le groupe y colle le lien d'un salon Discord gratuit, et tout le groupe voit alors un bouton Voix qui l'ouvre. Les observateurs y ont droit aussi : un groupe que vous suivez affiche un petit micro sur sa ligne dans Observer s'il a un salon, pour que la famille à la maison puisse écouter sans partager de position. Nous avons choisi Discord parce que, dans nos propres essais, il sonnait mieux que les applications d'intercom et revenait bien plus vite après un tunnel.
Un membre en difficulté touche le bouton rouge SOS (sur la carte ou dans le panneau). Tout le groupe, membres comme observateurs, voit un bandeau rouge avec son nom ; le toucher fait voler la carte vers sa position, qui continue de se mettre à jour s'il bouge. Son point pulse en rouge. N'importe qui dans le groupe peut annuler le SOS une fois la situation réglée. L'option SOS 1 touche saute la question de confirmation.
Le mode observation est fait pour tous ceux qui suivent la sortie sans y être : la famille à la maison, l'organisateur d'un tour moto qui garde un œil sur ses groupes, la voiture d'assistance d'un événement vélo, les amis qui rejoignent plus tard. Avec + Suivre un groupe, vous pouvez observer plusieurs groupes en même temps (collez le lien ou le code de chacun). Touchez une ligne de groupe pour changer celui que la carte affiche. Si un groupe observé a un salon vocal, sa ligne porte aussi un bouton micro. On peut être membre d'un groupe et en observer d'autres.
W GROUP a besoin d'internet pour échanger les positions. Si la connexion tombe, un bandeau « reconnexion » apparaît et les points se grisent à leur dernière position connue : personne ne prend de vieilles données pour des fraîches. La reprise est automatique. Tant que vous êtes membre, l'écran reste allumé.
W GROUP fait partie de la famille WeatherGPX. Les mêmes groupes fonctionnent aussi dans l'app complète WeatherGPX (Extra apps → Groupe), qui ajoute les traces GPX, la météo sur votre parcours, la navigation et plus. Les motards peuvent être dans WeatherGPX pendant que la famille regarde dans W GROUP : même groupe, même lien.

Et ma vie privée ?

Läuft in jedem modernen Browser und lässt sich als App installieren.
Deine Gruppe kann während der Fahrt miteinander sprechen. W GROUP überträgt die Stimme nicht selbst: wer die Gruppe erstellt, fügt den Link eines kostenlosen Discord-Raums ein, und alle in der Gruppe bekommen einen Sprach-Knopf, der ihn öffnet. Zuschauer auch: eine Gruppe, der du folgst, zeigt ein kleines Mikrofon in ihrer Zeile unter Zuschauen, wenn sie einen Raum hat — so kann die Familie zu Hause mithören, ohne eine Position zu teilen. Wir haben Discord gewählt, weil es in unseren eigenen Tests besser klang als die Intercom-Apps und nach einem Tunnel deutlich schneller zurückkam.
Ein Mitglied in Schwierigkeiten tippt den roten SOS-Knopf (auf der Karte oder im Panel). Alle in der Gruppe, Mitglieder wie Zuschauer, sehen ein rotes Banner mit dem Namen; Antippen fliegt die Karte zur Position, die sich weiter aktualisiert. Der Punkt pulsiert rot. Jeder in der Gruppe kann das SOS beenden, sobald alles in Ordnung ist. Die Option 1-Tipp SOS überspringt die Bestätigungsfrage.
Der Zuschauermodus ist für alle, die die Tour verfolgen, ohne dabei zu sein: die Familie zu Hause, der Organisator einer Motorradtour mit mehreren Gruppen im Blick, das Begleitfahrzeug bei einem Radevent, Freunde, die später dazustoßen. Mit + Gruppe verfolgen kannst du mehrere Gruppen gleichzeitig beobachten (Link oder Code einfügen). Tippe auf eine Gruppenzeile, um zu wechseln, welche die Karte zeigt. Hat eine beobachtete Gruppe einen Sprachraum, trägt ihre Zeile zusätzlich einen Mikrofon-Knopf. Man kann Mitglied einer Gruppe sein und andere beobachten.
W GROUP braucht Internet für den Positionsaustausch. Bricht die Verbindung ab, erscheint ein „Verbinde neu"-Banner und die Punkte werden an ihrer letzten bekannten Position grau: niemand hält alte Daten für frisch. Die Verbindung stellt sich von selbst wieder her. Als Mitglied bleibt der Bildschirm an.
W GROUP gehört zur WeatherGPX-Familie. Dieselben Gruppen funktionieren auch in der vollen WeatherGPX-App (Extra apps → Gruppe) mit GPX-Routen, Wetter entlang der Strecke, Navigation und mehr. Fahrer können in WeatherGPX sein, während die Familie in W GROUP zuschaut: gleiche Gruppe, gleicher Link.

Un membro in difficoltà tocca il pulsante rosso SOS (sulla mappa o nel pannello). Tu grupo puede hablar en voz alta mientras rueda. El modo observación es para quienes siguen la salida sin estar en ella: la familia en casa, el organizador de una ruta en moto que vigila sus grupos, el coche de asistencia de un evento ciclista, los amigos que llegan más tarde. Con + Seguir grupo puedes observar varios grupos a la vez (pega el enlace o código de cada uno). Toca una fila de grupo para cambiar cuál muestra el mapa. Si un grupo observado tiene sala de voz, su fila lleva además un botón de micrófono. Puedes ser miembro de un grupo y observar otros.
W GROUP necesita internet para intercambiar posiciones. Si la conexión se corta, aparece un cartel de «reconectando» y los puntos se ponen grises en su última posición conocida: nadie toma datos viejos por frescos. Se reconecta y reanuda solo. Mientras eres miembro, la pantalla permanece encendida.
